Warm Music For Chilly Mornings

Woke up, put on some big fluffy wool socks and turned the music on immediately. Today started off with lots of girl groups from the 60's (yes, I'm slightly obsessed), which led me to change it up a bit to The Ettes , who I love, love, love right now. They have sass and killa style, which along with catchy tunes are some of the things that make them so appealing. Check them out!

You Can't Do That To Me - The Ettes

Old music rocks my socks, so I want everyone to hear Helen Kane. Her voice is so cute and if it sounds a bit familiar, that's because she is one of the inspirations for Betty Boop.

I Want To Be Bad - Helen Kane

Nina Kinert's album Pets and Friends is great for wasted Saturday mornings...actually, it's great for lots of things, so give it a whirl.

Combat Lover - Nina Kinert

Do you ever just grab an album out of your stash on a whim? Last night, I did that with Jeff Buckley. I remember the first time I heard his voice and it was one of those times when you just know you've found something incredible.

Not So Invisible Loud Mouth People-Hurray !?!

Photobucket

Oh what fun it is to be invisible sometimes (or not). I found this Chinese artist the other day-can't remember what his name is, but his concept and technique rock!

I was discussing with my friend the other night, the question of shy people who after drinking become the world's biggest mouth and garbage can of trash talk- whether its in good fun or nastiness. You know the ones; the volume control on their mouth breaks at about 5 drinks in and the only way to sooth the beast is too find another loud ass drunk who is doing the same thing. It's funny too because when you pair them up, the world goes back to normal and yet they just blare whatever they want to talk about at each other and never hear a word from the other person. God love 'em- if we didn't those obnoxious bastards entertaining us, where would we be? If you see me leaving at the first sight of one of these people, don't fret- I've just been around them a little too much sometimes. Here's some sweet tunes to get you ready for October's moments of fun.......

A little tune that I forgot I loved until i heard it the other day.

Roky Erickson-Burn the Flames

A great band on a great compilation from the early 80's. This album rocks all the way through if you haven't heard it yet.
Photobucket
Red Cross-Puss 'N' Boots

My new favorite up beat party band..... reminds me of that band Whale meets Daisy Chainsaw

Love Is All-Used Goods

...and a tune that I keep listening to and seem to love more everytime. Reminds me of Nico if she was doing tunes today.

Cheers and have a good time doing what ever you're doing!

Johnny Thunders' Hair

I needed to do a bit of mental cleansing, so I went for a drive. It reminded me of the times I would just venture out mostly for night rides, full of smoke, stars, and music. One summer was the summer of Jane's Addiction, where we listened to almost nothing but them, to the point of nausea. Today felt like one of those days.

Jane's Addiction - Classic Girl

I don't talk about art enough, which I will change. One I'm quite fond of and want everyone to see is A Glove by Max Klinger , so check it out! This is my favorite Abduction:

Last night was an interesting night. I ran into some old friends, had awkward moments, and tried to avoid stepping in dog shit. While waiting in line for the potty, a tipsy girl mentioned how big and cool my hair looked, which was nice. New York Dolls-era Johnny Thunders is basically one of my hair idols and he was fucking amazing.

Speaking of Johnny Thunders, here is a video for Crawfish. It stars Johnny Thunders and Patti Palladin. Sorry about the quality, but it's worth the watch.
This is for someone:

Bonus song:Johnny Thunders and Patti Palladin - Crawfish

Random songs for the day include something old:
The Germs - Let's Pretend

and something new:
Dope Fiend - Dope Fiend

A Look Back

Honestly, I feel a bit drained, so I had nothing panned to give you today. Then, I felt horrid for neglecting you, so I thought I'd share even more videos. Certain life situations call for certain eye-candy, textures, smells, or whatever floats your boat, to accompany whatever emotion or thought you may be experiencing. I'm a bit shit and decided to go for "comfort" today. As always, there's a visual buffet since I am feeling a hot, hot mess. Ha!

Antony and The Johnsons - Hope There's Someone

Leonard Cohen - The Stranger Song

Patrick Wolf - Tristan

Chris Corner and Simon le Bon - The Chauffer

Honestly, I could go for whatever Simon's on, haha.

The Stranglers - Strange Little Girl

I promise I'll be back on my game soon. Despite the lazy post today, I'm actually pretty awesome and into giving music and goodies to the masses, so fear not. Life's too short for ugly.

New Music Looks Promising.......

Nothing to report from the front lines right now.....
Scouting new tunes to jam on for the Fall months. Here's some of what we've found so far. Videos help sometimes with visualizing the artist when they're brand new, so that's the plan Stan.
cheers!

Observing Past Lives and Lowlifes

Ever get the feeling you've lived many lives? Not in a Shirley MacLaine infomercial way and not to sound kooky, but I miss one of the old lives I once had. The life where I had the freedom to do whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. One day I shall regain this elusive bastard and make it mine again. I want every day to be like a Leonard Cohen song, where I have artists, musicians, and passionate people around telling me of their secrets and their desires for their craft. Wine and other spirits will flow and there will be clouds of smoke carrying the dreams and conversations from one person to the next. I want to cover the floor with items that inspire me. Photos, feathers, and whatever the hell I feel like adding to the mix at any given time, sticking to my bare ink-stained feet as I dance about to whatever music is in my heart and soul.

I love you Leonard Cohen and your lyrics touch a hardcore thing in me!
Suzanne - Leonard Cohen

The image is a sculpture by Louise Bourgeois and fits perfectly with the next song. Marianne Faithfull is another performer, whose voice I love. This one is one of those Stones/Faithfull songs that she does so, so much better. Don't believe me? Then listen for yourself:
Sister Morphine - Marianne Faithfull

Any fans of The Slits? I love The Slits more than I can explain and I adore New Age Steppers, which featured Ari Up , Neneh Cherry, and various other Slits members. The Steppers were produced by Adrian Sherwood on his On U Sound label, which is one of my favorites for dub, etc. Feel it!
Observe Life - New Age Steppers

Speaking of Ari Up, her stepfather John Lydon has a new commercial! You like?

Sharing the Wealth that is Searchable Entertainment

Alright, if you're reading this than obviously you surf the web. I have become addicted to my favorite sites like a morning newspaper reader. I get up early, check my favorite sites and before I go to bed I do the same. They are my connection with people that I feel are like minded with me. Art, music, weird shit that makes me laugh or pissed off- all of it is what I crave on a daily bases for entertainment. Well viewers, let me share the wealth of my searching. I present to you some of my favorite sites and with a click of the image you too can visit them.Let us begin......

Wired Magazine is one of my all time favorite magazines and when I found out that they had a daily zine/ blog set-up, I freaked out. I check this site more like 5 times a day for up to date news on the world and cool shit. This sight is addicting for sure.
Photobucket

For my music news on album releases, tours or events in the music world, I turn to Pitchfork Media. They are on top of their shit and have people feeding them news insights like 24hours a day. When someone in the music world dies-they know it first. When a tour is announced-they know it first.Get my drift? Check 'em out.
Photobucket

This site is for the men out there. The Art Of Manliness- a site dedicated to teaching men all the shit your fathers and grandfathers should have. Everything from how to shave with a straight razor to what kind of hat fits your face. When I found this site, I wasn't so pissed at my dad for not telling me stuff like this while I was growing up.Thanks Art of Manliness, you are my father figure now.
Photobucket

I love Kitsune Noir! A guy named Bobby runs it and he's based out of L.A. He has good taste in art, fashion, music, etc. and likes to share the wealth of knowledge as well.He makes some good mix-tape style downloads as well. Take a journey into his world for a bit.
Photobucket

I dig F-F-F-Found. This is a picture hunters dream come true. Anybody can add there, but it seems to be pics and art of the weird and cool. I use this site for inspiration when I'm feeling dry.
Photobucket

Drawn! is a site that is for any of you art lovers out there that are into animation, cartoons, illustrators, or doodlers. It has the best write ups on illustrators and animators and they post video clips too which helps put a picture to the face. I spend hours here when I want to be entertained.
Photobucket

Last but not least is Burda Style. Some of you might know of this site already, but I just got into the idea of making my own stuff and this site rocked my world. This is a sweet sewing site that has patterns, tutorials, and tips of the trade. I learned what seemed like 5 years worth of shit in one day just watching their how-to s and reading other peoples comments and concept ideas.Way cool.Go make something and drop the man and what he's selling.
Photobucket

If anybody has cool sites that they visit let us know! It's basically the newspaper of today and the more you know the more fun it is to read. Whoot! whoot!

Office Politricks - A - Go- Go

Is it too much to ask for an easy life? I have an overwhelming feeling of doom, which is more than likely work-related. Surprise, surprise. Since we are experiencing "space issues", some of us lucky gold ticket holders have to share our desks with another person. I have yet to meet this beast, but one of her relatives and another of her former co-workers have informed me that she is a total hag composed solely of steaming hot garbage. Nice, really nice. I have issues with people I do not know invading my personal space and it does not like to be tainted by bitter women who cannot work because they are too hung the fuck over from football parties. After venting and exorcising my inner demons, I have decided to be open-minded about the situation until I meet her. Then, if she touches my belongings or invades my space bubble, I shall slay her.

Erase my hideous drama with this gem and let us all "Knock on Wood" so I don't put her head through a wall, shall we? Ammii Stewart to the rescue!

Luckily, Friday is soon come. I cannot wait to go get cocktails and dance. Friday is my big day to say fuck off to the work week and go out and get intoxicated by music, drinks, and good company. My easy life begins under the warmth of the club lights as I sweat out all of the toxins of life in general. Songs I have been into as I bitch and moan and try to cleanse myself of this feeling of hatred are what you are getting today. Hey, atleast you don't have to share your aura with some withered piece of...or maybe you do? I hope not! Go out this weekend and wiggle it ya lil' dirties!
